GALAPAGOS ISLANDS SPANISH SCHOOL

On the Galápagos Island our school is located in the heart of Santa Cruz close to the harbor (map of Ecuador), restaurants and white sandy beaches. Classes are of high standard due to our professional teachers with university degrees and many years of experience teaching Spanish as a second language.The teachers here also have a degree in either/or tourism or enviromental sciences.

We offer 4 different levels from beginner to advanced. Classes can be taken from minimum 4 and up to maximum 8 hours per day. Students can choose their course itinerary within study blocks either in the morning from 8:30am to 12:30am or in the afternoon from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.


The Instituto Superior de Español is the only Spanish school which is legally registered with the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education and Culture and with permission to operate on the Galápagos Islands.

In order to offer our students other places to study, the Instituto Superior de Español also offers classes on the mainland in Quito, Otavalo, in a Jungle Lodge and on an organic farming hacienda. Would you like to see more of Ecuador and its hidden treasures? With our Traveling Classroom you’ll see it all and learn Spanish at the same time. All our schools offer the same quality and service.

After classes you can participate in optional free activities such as: swimming or sun bathing at one of the numerous beaches, visit caves, the Darwin Centre, hike up a volcano, rent a bike, learn to salsa dance,or explore the art galleries. You may simply wish to just relax and chat over cocktails or coffee at one of the many street cafes. On the weekends we have organized boat excursions visting one or two islands.

If you wish to participate on a boat trip of the islands for 5-8 days, we will help you organize your trip directly with a reputable boat owner or through reputable companies which will provide you with a good discount.

Finalmente volví a Inglaterra. Le agradezco por haber organizado mis viajes y mis estudios con mucha paciencia. Las 6 semanas en Ecuador
fueron unas de las más interesantes de mi vida.

I can whole heartedly recommend your language school Instituto Superior de Español. The concept of learning Spanish while travelling
is superb and your organizational talent in working out individual itineraries is admirable! For some spoilt visitors from rich countries
it might be hard to fit in with an Ecuadorian family, but it gives a unique opportunity to learn more about the country than the superficial impressions usually granted to tourists.

Many thanks to you, your team and the host families for the courtesy, patience and good humor which made my trip so enjoyable!

I can also recommend the very friendly and comfortable jungle lodge and rafting or kayaking excursions who's safety standards were better
than some European organizations I have encountered.

Dear Eugenio,

First of all many thanks for everything you made possible an excellent experience in your country. Especially the week in the Indian Community close to Otavalo with Spanish classes and with the Indigenas was a wonderful experience. The accommodation in the lovely decorated cabana with open fireplace and private bathroom (even with hot water!) was great. The family was so kind and friendly that I felt like home, even it was so different from home. If anyone ist interested in the culture of ecuadorian Indigenas, this is a great opportunity to combine with a Spanish language course. You really share life with the familiy within the comunidad, which means, you go for planting and harvesting, you learn to cook and to eat a very healthy kitchen. In the center of the comunidad you join the meetings, that might be a course to learn how to make the typical espandrillas, or you watch the training for a traditional dance or even after a Minga I shared the meal which was celebrated for all the working people at the center. My week was full of unique experiences I wouldn`t miss. And every day my teacher give me professional lessons. Many thanks - and puede ser: hasta luego!

I just wanted to give some feedback about this spanish school in quito since there arent any reviews of it as far as i can see & thought itd be helpful for anyone considering it.

Eugenio, the owner of the school, was sooo helpful to me. Im a single female travelling for a month in Ecuador. He picked me up from the airport, helped me organise my galapagos trip & jungle trips (and got me discounts). I went on the one week travelling course to the sierra, have just got back- it was amazing and for me speaking LIMITED spanish! (and zero confiednce when speaking it..) was perfect to travel on local buses, eat local food etc etc.
My spanish has improved so much in one week, i learned more in one week than i did in 6 months doing evening classes in the UK. I would recommend people to do the 2 week travelling course if you have time. the school is nice in quito too (where i am now) but id recommend going on the road and seeing ecuador..

anyway, ive got to go. one more thing- do bring warm clothes and thermals! (iu took a mini hot water bottle, a godsend.) Im here in the middle of august, its supposed to be the cool & dry period. its very very cold in mountains!! also, its a lot of travelling and quite strenous so make sure youre fit and you can handle getting up early (ie some buses leave at 3am!)
