Ecuador Spanishs Schools: Galapagos, Quito and Otavalo

TEACHERS

We take great pride in our teaching standards and employ only the highest calibre staff, holding university degrees in linguistics and Latin American literature and most with several years of experience teaching Spanish to foreigners.

We would like to emphasise that with the Instituto Superior de Español Spanish School you will receieve the very best of Spanish language courses, from the best teachers Ecuador has to offer.

Furthermore, all of our teachers are native Ecuadorians, which allows our students to gain invaluable insights into Latin American history, culture, and traditions. Below are the profiles of just a few of our teaching staff:

Tania: has worked with us since 1994 and holds a Teaching degree in Language. Her specialty is Spanish grammar. She is an extremely intelligent lady and is good at spotting student weaknesses and working them through with conversation.

Tanja
Milton: has been with the Institute since 1999 and has a University Degree in Linquistics. He has the patience of a Saint; often useful when teaching beginner classes the “ins and outs” of reflexive verbs! He is a conversational guy and is a keen participant in the extra curricula activities.

Milton
Mireya: has worked with us since 1999. She is a lovely, warm hearted person dedicated to her profession. She has a degree in Linquistics as well as iin Environmental Sciences. She is an enthusiastic guide for the Travelling Classroom as well as the Galapagos Islands program.

Mireya
Paola: has been with the Institute since 2001. She has degrees in both Spanish language Teaching and Tourism, making her another keen contender for the "out of school" programs, including the Jungle and the Galapagos Islands programs. During her tourism background Paola developed an in depth knowledge for the natural wonders of our country.

Paola
Tito: joined us in 1994. He has degrees in Teaching and Journalism, the latter raising his interest and awareness in Latin American Art and History. Tito is also a keen traveler and enjoys taking students for the Traveling Classroom program.

Tito
Maria Elizabeth: has worked with us since 1995 and has degrees in Teaching, the Environment, and is currently studying medicine. She can normally be found teaching in Quito, but as the founder of our school on the Galapagos Islands she will take the opportunities to travel as and when they arise.

Maria Elisabeth
Maria Augusta: joined us in 1997. With a degree as Spanish teacher and also one in Economics she is a long standing professional who revels in combining her skills for business orientated students. She is a studious lady and follows current affairs closely; a key source for financial information in Ecuador.

"I would absolutely recommend Instituto Superior de Español to all travellers who come to Quito to learn Spanish while getting to know the culture and having a great time."

"I attended two respected Spanish schools in Guatemala and in New York, both of which paled in comparison to Instituto Superior de Español in terms of quality of teaching and my overall experience!"

"Hi there
I just wanted to give some feedback about this spanish school in quito since there arent any reviews of it as far as i can see & thought itd be helpful for anyone considering it.

Eugenio, the owner of the school, was sooo helpful to me. Im a single female travelling for a month in Ecuador. He picked me up from the airport, helped me organise my galapagos trip & jungle trips (and got me discounts). I went on the one week travelling course to the sierra, have just got back- it was amazing and for me speaking LIMITED spanish! (and zero confiednce when speaking it..) was perfect to travel on local buses, eat local food etc etc.
My spanish has improved so much in one week, i learned more in one week than i did in 6 months doing evening classes in the UK. I would recommend people to do the 2 week travelling course if you have time. the school is nice in quito too (where i am now) but id recommend going on the road and seeing ecuador..

anyway, ive got to go. one more thing- do bring warm clothes and thermals! (iu took a mini hot water bottle, a godsend.) Im here in the middle of august, its supposed to be the cool & dry period. its very very cold in mountains!! also, its a lot of travelling and quite strenous so make sure youre fit and you can handle getting up early (ie some buses leave at 3am!)

have a great trip & let me know if you have any questions, im happy to write back! Jessica Davies"
